Lincoln police arrested a 31-year old Lincoln woman after she took money from church members, claiming she only had three months to live.
April Nesslein was arrested Wednesday for felony theft by deception.
The Lincoln Police Department was contacted in October 2013 by Health and Human Services. HHS said Nesslein obtained monetary benefits from individuals for medical conditions she did not have. Nesslein claimed to have cancer, brain tumors and stage four lymphoma.
Police said she took nearly $12,000 from September 2 to October 31 of 2013. LPD said Nesslein told them she had to pay for rent, new furniture, groceries, clothes and other household items.
