Do you like how the city is spending your tax dollars? Want to make sure your favorite programs stick around, take the City of Lincoln's budget survey.
"I've come to strongly believe in this process," said Mayor Chris Beutler. "It helps us identify tax payer preferences and develops the community consensus we need to move Lincoln forward.
You have the opportunity to weigh in on 9 current and new city programs that total about $2.4 million. You can decide to keep or cut things like pool and library hours. The survey asks if you'd like to relocate fire stations, eliminate some mid-day hours from the Star Tran service, or get rid of the Pioneers Park Nature Center.
As you go through the survey it calculates the effect of your choices on your property taxes. The survey costs the city about $40,000. Money Mayor Beutler says is well worth the cost.
Saturday, June 2nd the mayor and his staff will meet with the public for a face to face discussion.
