A Lincoln man has been sentenced to 14 days in jail for trying to poison kittens with antifreeze.

John Lenzen was sentenced after pleading no contest to two counts of animal abuse.

Two girls found eight kittens near their father's machine shop last year.

In June, five of the kittens disappeared. One was later found dead.

Lenzen, who rented a space near the shop, told investigators he tried to poison the kittens because they made a mess.

Lenzen was sentenced last Friday in Lancaster County Court.
