Lincoln Police are investigating an assault at Antelope Park.

Police say a 17-year-old female was visiting the park with several friends around 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police say it happened like this: She went to use the restroom, alone, when an unknown male grabbed her. The man had been hiding behind the partition wall that separates the bathroom entry door from the park. The man grabbed her waist, pinning her left arm behind her back. He tried pulling her toward the bathroom, but she resisted. The victim applied backward kicks, striking him approximately three times in the lower leg. He then released her and ran toward the Veteran’s Memorial Garden. She ran in the opposite direction, back to her friends at the playground.

Police say the victim had a small bruise just above her waist that may have been caused by the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, late 20s, 6’2” tall, thin with muscular build. He also had either a goatee or soul patch. Hair color is not known.

The incident was reported almost two hours after it occurred. An officer canvassed the park, speaking to approximately 40 adults.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call LPD at 402.441.6000 or Crime Stoppers 402.475.3600.
