The morning commute was interrupted Monday on Highway 77 south of Lincoln.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says his deputies were called after someone reported a vehicle was driving recklessly near Firth.
A witness said the driver, 42 year old Michael Diekmann hit a windmill in a yard.
A deputy spotted the SUV and tried to pull it over, but the driver turned into a cornfield instead.
Wagner said it a short low speed pursuit ended with the SUV in a ditch.
The Diekmann was arrested for fleeing to avoid arrest, DWI and two outstanding warrants.
1011 spoke to the landowner this morning who is understandable upset about the incident.
No word yet on the damage done to the crops.
