York County Man Guilty of Child Abuse Resulting in Death of 4-Month-Old Daughter
Attorney General Jon Bruning announced Ryan Kozisek, 31, of York County was found guilty by jury Friday on one count of child abuse resulting in the death of his four-month-old daughter Kayley Kozisek. He faces a possible punishment of life imprisonment for the Class IB felony charge. Sentencing is set for March 18, 2013.
“Exactly two years ago, little Kayley’s life was cut too short after suffering severe abuse at the hands of her father,” said Bruning. “Hopefully, today’s conviction will provide some justice for this baby girl.”
In January 2011, Kozisek claimed Kayley had stopped breathing after her two-year old sister fell on her. An autopsy showed multiple injuries that resulted in severe hemorrhaging and brain damage. The injuries were later determined to be the result of abusive head trauma.
In March 2011, Kozisek pleaded not guilty in York County Court.
