Kearney Public Schools officials say the high school was evacuated for a short time Thursday morning when a fire alarm went off.

The Kearney Fire Department gave the "all clear" after discovering the alarm was malfunctioning.

Tori Stofferson, Communications and Marketing Director for KPS, says the fire department let students into the gym after they arrived and started looking into the alarm, so students were only outside for about 20 minutes.

Students were back in class shortly after that.
