Man Arrested After Child Found with Skull Fractures

Police arrested a 22-year-old for child abuse after a 6 month-old-boy suffered several skull fractures.

Police were called to a home in the 1300 block of SW 10th Street Dec. 1 when Anthony Souza said he accidentally dropped his 6-month-old boy on the floor.

The boy was transported to the hospital and doctors found three skull fractures and a brain bleed on x-rays. Doctors also discovered at least two breaks on the boys arm that were healing. They told officers the injuries were not consistent with a fall.

Officers arrested Souza Friday for felony child abuse. Police believe Souza actually threw the boy across the room hitting his head against a door frame and closet.
