Former Husker Arrested for Guns, Drugs in Walmart Parking Lot

A lucky break took guns off the street because the suspect fell asleep in a parking lot.

Police say a woman saw former Husker football player, 25 year Benjamin Martin slumped over the wheel of his car in the parking lot at the Walmart at 27th and Granger Parkway Friday morning.

When she got close she saw bullets in his lap and called police. When officers arrived they found Martin with bullets and a rifle under a blanket in the front seat.
Officers also found another rifle and two handguns in the trunk along with 15 grams of meth.

Sunday morning police searched a storage unit leased by Martin and found another 112 grams of meth and some paraphernalia.
Martin was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of meth, possession with the intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police do not believe Martin had any intention of harming anyone at the Walmart.

Martin played defensive end for the Huskers from 2006-2009 according to Huskers.com.
