A Lincoln man who attacked another man with a machete will serve prison time.
Forty-year-old Juan Cruz was sentenced to 4 to 6 years on a second degree assault charge.
The charges stem from a January 1st fight when Police say Cruz broke into the victim's home and attacked him with a machete, cutting him on his head and arms.
Police say the victim was able to fight back with a hammer and flee his home to call Police.
Police believe the fight started when the victim told Cruz to stay away from a female companion.
Cruz was also originally charged with Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony but it was later dropped, according to court documents.
The judge gave him credit for 337 days already served.
