Update: Police Identify Driver Killed After Crashing Car into Tree in Downtown Lincoln

Lincoln Police have released the name of the driver who died after he crashed his car into a tree in downtown Lincoln.

Crews were called to 1620 M St. just after 11 a.m. Wednesday on a report of an injury accident.

Lincoln police say the driver, 81-year-old Connell Rector of Lincoln, was heading east on M Street when he lost control, jumped a curb and hit a tree.

Police are investigating the possibility that a medical episode may have caused the crash.
