LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Police have identified the man who died after being run over by a car.
They say 27-year-old James R. Rubio was killed near 52nd and La Salle Streets about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
After an investigation, LPD confirms that Rubio appeared to be a passenger in a car going south on 52nd when he climbed out of the sunroof and fell to the street. He died at the scene.
The driver, 34-year-old Lindsey R. McCallister, was not injured in the accident.
Officials are investigating whether alcohol may have played a factor.
Neighbors say that they have seen a few incidents on this same street before.
One neighbor says he's seen two accidents in the last few years.
Thomas Britt has lived there for ten years and he said, "A couple months ago, one of my neighbors...her car was t-boned and it flipped over. A lot of these streets...there's not stop signs on any of the corners. Normally people will give the right-away, but all too often people just fly through the intersections."
Britt had also woken up and saw commotion but didn't know what was going on.
"I noticed bright lights outside the window and walked outside and looked around the corner and the streets from Spruce to La Salle Streets on 52nd."
Joyce Agna said she thinks the neighborhood is typically pretty quiet but she has heard "cars drive by late at night with loud music."
