A Lincoln man is in jail after dropping a gun in front of a corrections officer.
According to Lincoln Police Captain Jason Stille, about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, a corrections officer spotted a man in the 1900 block of Mulberry Street with something in his waistband when it dropped to the ground.
Stille said that something was thought to be either a gun or taser. The corrections officer called police who caught up with 25-year-old Joshua Vanderharr of Lincoln.
Stille said a search of the area lead to the discovery of a 40 cal. Smith and Wesson revolver.
Vanderharr was lodged in jail for carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful possession of a handgun, both misdemeanor charges.
Police are still trying to determine who owns the weapon.
