A 34-year-old North Platte man has been given 14 to 36 months in prison for strangulation and other crimes.
On Monday Ricardo Diaz was sentenced for strangulation, tampering with a witness and refusing to submit a chemical test.
The three sentences are to be served at the same time. He'd pleaded no contest to the charges.
Diaz's girlfriend, Beth Reichenberg, told police that Diaz tried to choke her last November when he was drinking and had stopped taking his anti-depressant medicine.
Authorities say that while Diaz was in jail, he tried to get Reichenberg to change her statement.
