A man and his girlfriend were arrested late Sunday night for stealing a car that was warming up in a driveway.

Michael J. Minter, 18, and a 17-year old female were arrested on felony theft charges.

The two stole a vehicle that was warming up in a driveway near 14th and Hilltop streets. The man driving the car started the vehicle and went inside, only to return five minutes later to find it missing.

A police officer spotted the white 2007 Lexus just after midnight near 11th and Cornhusker. The female driver refused to stop the vehicle. A pursuit ensued to the 500 block of West Belmont.

Both Minter and the teen fled on foot before being spotted later. The vehicle continued rolling before smashing a mailbox.

The teen driver was also charged with fleeing to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
