Man Killed when Pickup hits Gas Pump

Police in Fremont say a 44-year-old man is dead after his pickup veered off the road and hit a gas pump.

Fremont Police said the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Police Sgt. Mike Diers said the man's name has not yet been released.

Diers says the driver was taken to a Fremont hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the truck was injured.

Diers says the gas pump was ruptured. The Fremont Fire Department responded and was able to stop the gasoline leak.

Diers says the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
