The University of Nebraska police have cited a man they saw steal a bike.
Police say just before 3 a.m. Saturday, a community service officer saw a man grab an unlocked bike from the west side of Memorial Stadium.
UNL officials caught up with the man at the foot of the pedestrian overpass. The man was cited and released for the misdemeanor. University officials say having bikes stolen is a common problem on campus.
Officers have watch areas where bikes are parked to help discourage thefts. They say the best way to stop this crime of opportunity is to take time to lock bikes up when you leave.
