Lincoln Police arrested 28-year-old Damien Brown following a nine hour standoff.
Capt. Jim Davidsaver told 10/11 it started around 4:00 p.m. Thursday, when police responded to a dispute at a house near 20th and J Streets.
He said when police arrived, Brown was standing shirtless in a second floor window pointing what appeared to be a gun at police who were standing on the ground.
Capt. Davidsaver said officers later determined, the gun wasn't real, but then Brown went out the window onto the roof. He said at some point, Brown jumped to a neighboring roof and stayed there for over nine hours.
Capt. Davidsaver described the Brown's behavior as very erratic. He said Brown had something similar to a serrated steak knife and a screwdriver on him.
Witnesses who watched it all unfold said Brown could be heard screaming throughout the neighborhood. Witnesses say Brown was threatening police and other people.
Neighbors say it's a very bizarre, crazy and scary situation which they've never seen anything like before.
Capt. Davidsaver said it takes a lot of manpower to deal with a situation like this to make sure the suspects involved, police and people in the neighborhood stay safe.
Police say Brown faces a slew of charges including making terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, trespassing, and obstructing government operations.
The Salvation Army was on scene to provide assistance for officers.
