Marathon Runner Alive After Heart Attack During Race

A marathon runner is alive thanks to quick reaction by spectators at the race.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Dean Staberg said during the Lincoln Marathon Sunday, a 50-year-old man running the race suffered a heart attack. Police said it happened near 10th and South.

Staberg said a bystander quickly gave the man CPR until medical crew could get there.

The man was taken to BryanLGH East, where he is doing well.
