Mother, Daughter Killed in Crash on I-80

The Seward County Sheriff's Office says single vehicle accident killed a mother and her daughter early Friday morning.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the injury accident on I-80, near mile marker 385, in Seward County just before 7 a.m.

Seward County officials say the car was westbound when it veered left across the median, across eastbound lanes of traffic and down a steep embankment.

When emergency crews arrived the driver, 29-year-old Nell Jorgensen was trapped in the vehicle. Jorgensen was flown to Bryan West where she died a short time later. Her daughter, 11-year-old Morgan Smith died at the scene.

A four your old boy was also taken to Bryan West with minor injuries.

Deputies say the family was on their way to a family reunion in Wyoming.

According to reports, everyone was wearing their seat belts. Deputies say the accident was not related to road construction.
