Fire Spreads to Barn | Firefighters Warn Not to Burn Materials in High Winds

Multiple fire crews responded to a grass fire near 60th and Saltillo Road in Southeast Lincoln Wednesday afternoon.

According to Southeast Rural Fire, the grass fire threatened several homes. Some homes have siding damage and one barn was burned.

"I feel lucky," said homeowner, Jo Baxter. "I think we have a long aftermath ahead of us, and we'll take it day-by-day."

Southeast Rural Fire says one man was treated for smoke inhalation because he tried to put the fire out with a hose.

An employee at Rufnit Kennels, located at 59th and Saltillo road, says she saw smoke coming from the area.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, deputies blocked off 60th street, leading into the neighborhood.

Southeast Rural Fire says no one should be burning material Wednesday because of the windy conditions.
