Grand Island, NE The Nebraska Firearm Owners Association met Saturday at the Heartland Public Shooting Park to discuss their options in the legislative process.
The NOFA spent the day shooting and meeting to discuss plans to raise money or volunteer to support candidates in upcoming legislative campaigns.
Members said they want to support candidates who will support pro-gun rights.
The keynote speaker was current Senator, and Governor hopeful, Charlie Janssen.
"It takes groups like this to get together so they understand how the legislative process works and get them engaged and I certainly was very happy to be asked by the Nebraska Firearm Owners association to come out here today," said Janssen.
Senator Janssen sponsored Legislative Bill 451 which prohibits federal restrictions on firearms.
Janssen said if elected Governor he will sign the bill.
Gun rights are a big part of Janssen's campaign and he said he will stand up for what others will not.
