Near Seward, Neb. - The Nebraska State Patrol has released the name of the person killed in a crash along Interstate-80 in Seward County.
The crash involved three semi-trailer trucks on Thursday night at 4:45 p.m. and seriously injured someone else.
It happened near mile marker 378 on eastbound I-80 just west of the Seward exit, when two semi stopped in a work zone were rear-ended by a third semi, which the patrol says, failed to stop.
The driver of the third semi is identified as Marcus, R. Lathon, 28, Chesapeake, Virginia. He was killed in the crash.
A passenger in the third semi, Kwasi Obeng-Benne, 34, El Paso, Texas, was flown by medical helicopter to Bryan West in Lincoln with serious injuries. Both Lathon and Obeng-Benne were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the second semi, was treated and released at the Seward Hospital.
The patrol said the driver of the first semi was not injured.
The crash closed a portion of eastbound I-80 near the Seward exit for more than three hours. It remains under investigation.
