Former Nebraska U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel is facing questions during his confirmation hearing as president Obama's choice for Secretary of Defense.

Some of those questions are coming from his own party.

First at Four caught up with New York Times reporter and Nebraska native Jeff Zeleny to talk more about national politics.

Here are some of the questions we asked:

A big story is the confirmation hearings for former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel. He's getting criticism from a member of his own party, John McCain, over Hagel's opposition to a troop surge in Iraq. What do you make of all this?

Do you think Hagel will get confirmed?

Other big stories include a push for gun control, how far do you think the president is willing to go?
