Nebraska veterans groups say they will show support for several bills lawmakers are considering that could make it easier for veterans to display their military pride on vehicles and licenses.

Two Nebraska lawmakers have introduced bills that would ease the process for veterans to buy personalized license plates designating a branch of the service.

Another bill would allow a veteran's designation on driver's licenses.

In 2009, the Legislature and governor approved the creation of specialty license plates for nonprofit groups that have 500 or more advanced orders.

Fremont Sen. Charlie Janssen has proposed eliminating that threshold on specialty plates for veterans and those actively serving.

Janssen's bill would require the DMV to verify applicants are veterans or active service members.

The Transportation and Telecommunications Committee will discuss the bills Monday.
