OMAHA, Neb. A sixteen-year-old Omaha boy has been declared brain dead after being assaulted by two male suspects on Friday.
Omaha police say Aquilee Muse was walking with some other teenagers on Friday afternoon when they were approached by 2 male suspects near 21st & Burt Streets. A fight ensued and Muse ended up with a head injury.
Muse's condition was downgraded on Saturday and was pronounced brain dead Tuesday morning.
His family planned to take him off the ventilator on Tuesday afternoon.
Through a hospital spokesperson, the family of Aquilee "Keke" Muse released a statement: "Keke was a wonderful, loving and funny kid. He could put a smile on anyone's face. We always said that he should have his own comedy show. He loved to eat cereal, but more importantly, he loved his family and friends. He was deeply involved with church, and carried his Bible in his backpack. We love him, and will miss his big, bright smile every day. During this difficult time, we ask you to please respect our family's privacy as we continue to grieve."
Two juvenile suspects have been taken into custody, but police aren't releasing any names at this time.
