Nebraska Voters Consider 4 Ballot Measures

Nebraska outdoorsmen hope voters will agree to enshrine their right to hunt and fish in the state constitution this year, but little campaigning is being done for any of the four amendments on the ballot.

The hunting and fishing measure appears most likely to pass, given the popularity of those pastimes. It's unclear whether the same will be true of three other measures, which would give lawmakers a raise, relax term limits for the Legislature and expand the grounds for impeachment.

Nebraska is one of four states considering creating a constitutional right to hunt and fish this November. The National Conference of State Legislatures says 13 states have similar protections.

Scott Smathers with the Nebraska Sportsmen's Foundation says such sports must be protected to prevent animal-welfare groups from seeking restrictions.
