Nebraskans Asked to Welcome Gold Star Kids Honor Flight at Airport

By  |

Lincoln, Neb. The Gold Star Kids and their mothers will enjoy a charter flight from Omaha to Lincoln for the Nebraska vs. Michigan State game on Saturday, November 7.

The Gold Star Kids and their mothers will enjoy a Sun Country charter flight (deeply discounted since it will be chartering Michigan State to Lincoln the day before). We're told Michigan State players are leaving notes on the plane for the widows and children.

Plans also include a tour of the Governor’s Mansion, visiting the traveling photo memorial, "Remembering Our Fallen” from Nebraska, where they will see the photos of their fathers, spend time with Husker Nation and around Memorial Stadium before enjoying the football game. Tickets will be provided by UNL in observance of their Military Appreciation Game.

They will also place a red rose near their father’s picture on the photo memorial, “Remembering Our Fallen” during a brief ceremony at UNL’s Military Science building.

Governor Ricketts will meet the children at the Governor’s Mansion. Three families are flying coming from California, Colorado and Texas, as their fathers grew up in NE!

How can you participate?
