The results of a necropsy have confirmed that a Gering family dog found fatally injured in September had been had intentionally mutilated.

The remains of Ike, a German shepherd belonging to Chris and Sharon Henderson, were sent to Colorado State University to be examined by a veterinarian pathologist.

Ike had been partially skinned from his belly to his genitals. The dog was euthanized on Sept. 15 after it crawled home after being attacked the night before.

Police say they're actively looking for whoever mutilated the dog. A $2,500 reward has been offered by the Humane Society of the United States for an arrest and conviction in the case.
