The 10/11 newsroom has undergone a major renovation (pictures to come next week) including a new sports office. We thought it was only appropriate that we dedicate the sports office in memory of our former coworker, Michael Bennett, who passed away last year.
Michael passed away at age 29 on July 31, 2013 after a fast-developing illness.
A picture and plaque with Bennett's picture was hung in front of the sports office with his family present on Friday. The poem on it reads "Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never quite the same."
Bennett, as he was most commonly referred to in the newsroom, was a news and sports producer at 10/11 for about seven years. However his primary love was covering sports, especially the Huskers.
With Friday's dedication, Bennett's work ethic, positive spirit and comedic relief will be made known to all employees for years to come.
