KEARNEY, Neb. -- Due to the recent rains within the South Platte Basin in Colorado devastating flooding has occurred along the South Platte River.
Flood waters have steadily flowed down the South Platte into the Platte Rivers in Nebraska. As the flood waters move through Nebraska new flood records have been met and broken in every location.
Buffalo County and the City of Kearney is expecting no different.
The Platte River and the area canals within Buffalo County and the City of Kearney will be running at or above flood stage for several weeks.
The Emergency Management Director advises that no one should boat, canoe, kayak, etc. in the Kearney Canal/Tail Race until the flood waters recede.
