O Street is closing from 17th Street to 21st Street. Crews just started work Monday on the project. All the concrete is being ripped up, utility work is going on bellow street level and it will take about three months to complete.
Through this all the construction the businesses along O Street will remain, as well as a side walk to get to them. Because both directions of traffic are shut down drivers will need to use detours. Eastbound traffic will take 17th to P Street to 21st Street and then back to O Street. Westbound traffic will take 21st Street to Q Street back to 16th Street.
At Game Room at 17th and O Streets they say they’ve already seen a dip in sales.
"We are having a slower day than normal, one of the slower days of the year," said Adam Widger a manager at Game Room. "The scary comments we're receiving is 'are you guys open? Are you closing down?' Just the overall construction people get the impression we're not open."
