Police have confirmed that the shooter was killed in a South Lincoln shooting Friday afternoon.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the report of shots fired in a South Lincoln neighborhood. The home was near 56th and Old Cheney at 5901 English Park Court.
It happened at about 2:30 p.m. Friday. According to Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner, deputies were at the home to end an eviction process.
Wagner says at one point a man was shot. Officials are not releasing his name or age at this time.
According to a witness, deputies shot the man after he first fired a gun at them. The witness is a locksmith who was there to open the house for the eviction.
He says he unlocked the door, but a two by four was across the door frame, preventing it from opening. He says police were attempting to open the door with a battering ram. The locksmith says the man inside pulled out a gun and fired twice at the deputies. He says the deputies returned fire.
Deputies are on scene along with Lincoln Police, the Nebraska State Patrol and Lincoln Fire and Rescue.
