Norfolk police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that critically injured one person and forced the lock down of several schools.

The shooting happened around noon Tuesday in a neighborhood about four blocks south of Norfolk's downtown.

Police Chief Bill Mizner told KTCH radio that the shooting victim was taken to Faith Regional Medical Center for treatment before being flown to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Mizner declined to release any details about the victim and says investigators are working to identify a suspect.

At least four schools near the shooting were locked down for about an hour after the shooting was reported.
