Our Town Norfolk: Kuper Farms Country Market
Doug Kuper has been farming all of his life, but he's not the kind of farmer that spends all of his time on a tractor. He enjoys loading up his farm-fresh products and heading into town. And the people of Our Town Norfolk are pretty pleased about that.
Two years into his year round farmers market experiment, the masses have spoken in Downtown Norfolk and it's official, the Kuper Farms Country Market is a hit.
It all got started 5 years ago when Doug's wife asked him a favor, "My wife wanted a bigger garden one day so I plowed up two acres and I asked her if that was big enough so that's kind of how we went into the farmer's market thing."
The Kuper's sold their goods at the farmers market for three summers, "I asked the public if they would be interested in an indoor market." And the public said, absolutely.
Doug takes great pride in selling hormone-free and drug-free meats along with fresh, chemical-free vegetables.
Doug recently had a big 2nd anniversary celebration at the store.
The Kuper Farms Country Market is open Tuesday thru Saturday in downtown Norfolk.
