Kathy Streka from Paws Up of Nebraska Canine Rescue says they're in desperate need of people interested in pet adoption.
Another option for those looking to help, but aren't interested in adopting, is fostering a pup. They can help train the dog and get them used to being in a new atmosphere as they wait for their forever home.
On Saturday, March 15, Paws Up is hosting a Chili Cook-Off at the Old Spaghetti Work at 228 North 12 Street in Lincoln.
The cost to attend is $25 per person, and $40 for a couple.
Guests judges will judge more than 10 different chilies. Guests will also have access to a cash bar, silent auction, and live entertainment.
