Sunday is Veteran's Day, and it's our chance as a nation to say thank you to the brave men and women who protect us every day.
The Veteran's Memorial Garden Advisory Council held a ceremony at Auld Pavilion to honor our local heroes.
There were veterans from every military branch representing every war since World War II.
Organizers say it's important we remember what these soldiers fought and died for.
World War II Veteran Jess Smith says, "We wouldn't have freedom today without their sacrifice. If you think differently, go back to Arlington and you'll see thousands of graves and even in Europe, the same thing and that's the price paid for freedom."
Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood gave the keynote address at Sunday's program.
The UNL Joint Service Color Guard presented the colors during the ceremony.
