Details: People's City Mission
Replacing the roof at the People’s City Mission would have cost $130,000, but the mission is getting a break because of a special donation.
White Castle Roofing asked one of its suppliers for a shingles donation.
Owens Corning out of Chicago donated $50,000 worth of premium shingles. It's expected to last another 25 to 30 years.
"It's something we believe in and we want to do something to make it work for them and help them out,” said Dane Hansen with White Castle Roofing.
The mission will still need to raise $70,000 to $80,000 to pay for the labor and other supplies.
The roof will be done by the end of the week.
"We rarely get a gift this size, in terms of commercially," said Pastor Tom Barber with the mission.
