Executive Director, Pastor Tom Barber, confirms the layoffs saying the foundation money used to fund the clinic was running low.
Recently, the mission funded the medical clinic at a loss and now needs to use donations to pay for clinic costs instead of employee wages.
Pastor Barber says the mission isn't changing their capacity but are simply tightening their belts. He says no one deserved to lose their job and there's no crisis at the mission.
The medical clinic saw over 15,000 patients last year and is growing at a quicker rate than expected, leading to the shortage of foundation money.
