Shots Ring Out Near State Capitol | Two Arrested | No Injuries

According to Lincoln Police, on August 1 at 6:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to a gunshot heard in an alley near 18th & J Streets.

Witnesses heard yelling just prior to the shot. Two shot gun shells were located in the alley near 18th & J Streets. Officers contacted 34 year old Daniel Brenneise, still armed with a shotgun, and 21 year old CaeJuan Collier. CaeJuan Collier reported that he was leaving an apartment building when he heard a male voice shout “Hey!” He saw that the male had a shotgun, so he took off running. He took about 10 steps before he heard the shot. CaeJuan Collier was not hit.

Daniel Brenneise reported that he had been involved in a verbal altercation with several males and CaeJuan Collier punched him twice in the face. Afterward, Daniel Brenneise ran to get his shotgun. Daniel Brenneise had an abrasion to his elbow and difficulty opening his mouth.

Daniel Brenneise was lodged at the Lancaster County Jail for Attempted First Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony. CaeJuan Collier was cited and released for misdemeanor Assault.
