Lincoln police are investigating two burglaries that happened in daylight Tuesday.
The first happened at 11:45 a.m. at 1822 Knox Street. Police say a maintenance worker at The Willows Apartments noticed the screen door cut on an apartment. He then saw a man he knew was not the tenant inside. When the worker called 911 the suspect ran. Police are still looking for a black man about 5'8" between 18 and 26 years old.
The second burglary happened around 2 p.m., when police were called to another burglary in progress. Officer Katie Flood said a witness saw two men carrying a television and other electronics from a home near 48th and Judson. The witness followed the men as they ran away and loaded the items into a blue Honda van.
Police spotted the van near Capitol Beach driving recklessly. Officers say near NW 9th and Lakeshore the van hit a parked truck. The suspects tried to run from officers, but were later caught.
Officials say 19-year-old Matt Duoth was arrested for burglary, willful reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.
A 15-year-old boy was also taken to the youth detention center for burglary, trespassing, failing to comply and resisting arrest.
All of the stolen items were recovered.
