Kearney police are investigating a threat at a local Head Start Thursday afternoon.

According to its director, the school was locked down briefly after a child told his teacher something that was viewed as a threat.

Police said children were quickly released to their parents.

The investigation continues, but authorities said they believe it may be a family matter.

They said neither the students or the public are in any danger.
