Lincoln police are investigating a woman hit in the head with a gun. Initially police thought it was a shooting.

It happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to two different calls involving that woman.

Someone reported that the woman showed up at their front door bleeding from the head, police say.

Then, a second person called to say the same woman was screaming while running down a street with what they thought was a white car following her.

Officers found the woman at 4138 South 46th Street.

Police say she was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators confirmed she was hit in the head with a gun and not shot.
