A night turns dangerous when shots are fired in a Lincoln neighborhoods.

Just before two Friday morning, police say a 40-year-old man living in the 3300 block of St. Paul woke to the sound of gun fire.

He heard two shots that sounded far away, then one shot that sounded like it hit his house.

The victim found a bullet hole in his roof, that continued into his bedroom and out an opposing wall.

Jeff Hinsley lives in the area and can't believe what happened.

"I just don't understand people, why they would want to do stuff like that, whatever makes them do that, go get some help," Hinsley said.

Police don't have much of a lead.

"Someone in the area said they saw the shots fired from a red Chevy Blazer. That vehicle was last scene leaving the area east bound. We have no suspects at this time. The family says they are not having any problems with anyone and have no suspects," Officer Katie Flood said.

Your tip to Crimestoppers could mean a break in the case and piece of mind for the neighborhood.

"You know I'm a person that doesn't believe in having a fire arm or anything, but I tell you what, I've been think about it," Hinsley said.
