Lincoln Police are investigating the robbery of a pizza delivery driver.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday, a 39-year-old driver from Ramo's Pizza was assaulted as he came out of an apartment near 54th & Leighton.

According to Captain Jon Sundermeier officers were called to their own station at 49th and Huntington where the victim had driven to report the robbery.

Sundermeier said the victim had attempted to make a delivery to a vacant apartment at 5420 Leighton. When no one answered the door, the driver left. Once he got outside, three men jumped him, hitting his head and pushing him into a nearby window.

Robbers stole cash, a cell phone, two pizza warmers and one pizza. The suspects also slashed two of the driver's tires before they fled on foot.

The victim went to the hospital where he received stitches to his head and ear. He was released a short time later.

Sundermeier said the assault on the victim and being jumped from behind may have made it difficult to identify his attackers.

One suspect is described only has wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call Lincoln Police or Lincoln Crimestoppers.
