Update: Arrest Made in Kearney Car Fire

Kearney police say 24-year old Levi M. Sanderson of Kearney was arrested for Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, a Class 2 Felony.

Police believe the December 31 car explosion was caused by a mobile methamphetamine lab.

Police expect to make more arrests in relation to the explosion.

Kearney Police are looking for people who are believed to have been in a small explosion and flash fire in a car in Kearney Tuesday.

A 26-year-old Kansas woman was taken to a Lincoln hospital with significant burns from the incident. It is unknown if the other two people are hurt and need medical attention.

Officers were called to the 800 Block of Avenue C Tuesday evening
about burning items had been dumped in an alley. Around the same time, police learned that a woman had been burned at the same location.

Sgt. Tony Cordova says the witnesses described a fire or explosion, and that a red 1998 Ford Taurus with Kansas license plates 206FUF left the scene. The Taurus was found abandoned in Northern Kansas.
