Update: Woman Arrested in Bank Robbery

Lincoln police have arrested a 47-year-old transient for robbery.

Around 1:52 p.m. Thursday, police say Julie Balero walked into the Bank of the West near 16th and South Streets demanding money.

Balero was wearing a purple jacket, jeans, white hat and sunglasses carrying a large bag.

According to reports, she made no threats and did not show a weapon. She also did not imply she had a weapon. Balero left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police found a purple jacket, bag and sunglasses in the bathroom of the Community Mental Health Center. No cash was found in the bag.

An off-duty police officer spotted Balero at Bryan West Campus and called police. Around 3 p.m. police arrested Balero for robbery.
