Police Use Taser on Man They Say Punched Child

Lincoln, Neb.-- A Lincoln man punched a child in the back and was then tased when he resisted arrest, according to Lincoln police.

Police arrested and lodged 21-year-old Trenten Bankhead in jail for child abuse, resisting arrest and failure to comply.

According to LPD, an 8-year-old boy called police to tell them his mother's boyfriend, Bankhead, had punched him in the back near the 100 block of W. Fairfield.

The boy said he had been playing with a Christmas present, and then Bankhead hit him and left visible injuries, according to authorities.

Bankhead then left the scene, and police contacted him around the 2700 block of N. 70th St.

According to police, they attempted to take Bankhead into custody, and Bankhead then thrashed out at officers.

Police had to use a taser to subdue Bankhead.
