A Lincoln woman fights off a would-be rapist, then runs two miles to the police station to report the attack.
Police say the woman and her boyfriend left a party at the Economy Lodge near the airport at about 3 a.m. Sunday. They say the couple was walking down Cornhusker Hwy when they got into an argument.
The 23-year-old woman walked off on her own through Oak Lake Park.
Police say the suspect approached her and asked her if she needed anything. The victim said she was fine.
Police say that's when the suspect grabbed her arm, knocking her off balance and causing her to fall to the ground.
They say the man immediately jumped on top the victim, ripping and pulling at her clothes, trying to sexually assault her.
Police say the victim resisted and kicked until she was able to get away. They say she ran from the park and kept going until she got to the downtown police station, about two miles away.
Police say she had minor injuries, consistent with the report.
Officers searched Oak Lake Park, but were not able to find the suspect.
Police are looking for a white man, 40 to 50 years old, 5'7" to 5'9", about 175 pounds with a shaved head and a brown, scraggly beard.
