STROMSBURG, Neb. -- Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig said his office is investigating several shots that appeared to come from a rifle into the Corner Cafe in Stromsburg.
Sheriff Ladwig said items of evidence were recovered and are being processed. Ladwig said there was nobody in the building at the time the shots were fired.
"If someone would have been in the building at the time the shots were fired, this case could have been much worse," said Ladwig.
Ladwig said that the bullets made their way into the Corner Cafe, going through the side of the building and through windows. The sheriff believes the shots were fired over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
